BRANCH COUNTY, Mich. – A livestock semi that was hauling pigs to the Clemens Food Group flipped over Thursday in Matteson Township.
Branch County Undersheriff Keith Eichler said the accident took place at approximately 9:50 a.m. on M-86 and Culver Road.
The driver of the semi did not suffer any serious injuries.
However, an unknown number of pigs did not survive the crash.
A large wrecker was called in to remove the semi and livestock trailers were brought in to haul away the surviving animals.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Bronson Fire Department, the Michigan Department of Transportation and representatives from the Clemens Food Group.
