Traffics Stop Results in Police Chase

ANGOLA, IN - An attempted traffic stop by police led to a vehicle pursuit, which ended in the arrest of a Stroh man

The incident begin at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon, when officers with the Angola City Police Department attempted to stop a 2001 Chevy Blazer for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop for officers, leading authorities on a chase.

The suspect vehicle drove through several yards before exiting the vehicle while it was still moving. A police canine officer was sent after the flea and Perkins.

Angola Canine Officer Zara apprehended the suspect, identified as Estill Adam Perkins, age 32 of Stroh (Indiana). Perkins was stopped up in the backyard of a residence located in the 200 block of North Superior Street in Angola. It was learned that Perkins was wanted for a parole violation by Michigan authorities. Two loaded handgun’s were also found to be in Perkins’s possession.

Perkins was charged with multiple felonies, including possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, neglect of a dependent, and resisting law-enforcement with a vehicle. He was also charged with two misdemeanor charges including resisting law-enforcement and leaving the scene of a property damage crash.

The matter has been turned over to the Steuben County prosecutors office, where additional charges could be made.
