Indiana Voting Hours Hot Topic In New Bill
Monday, January 13, 2020

County clerks all across Indiana are worried a proposal for extending Election Day voting time by two hours in the Hoosier State would make it more difficult to find enough poll workers.

The bill sponsored by Republican Tim Wesco of Osceola would change Indiana’s current 6 p.m. closing time to 8 p.m. Wesco cites that Kentucky and Hawaii are the only other states with poll closing times that early.

Supporters of extended voting hours say they believe it could help aid Indiana’s voter turnout that has been among the country’s lowest in recent elections.
