Weekend Crash In Auburn Sends Three To Hospital
Tuesday, December 24, 2019

Three people were sent to the hospital after police said the driver over-corrected and ended up in the ditch Sunday afternoon.

Just before 2 p.m. Sunday, Indiana State Police responded to a crash on I-69 near Auburn. According to police, 60-year-old Anne Reitz, of Angola, was in the passing lane when for some reason her vehicle left the roadway into the grassy median.

Troopers said she over-corrected, sending the vehicle across both southbound lanes and into the ditch. It is there that the car then struck two trees on the passenger side before coming to rest.

Investigators said everyone was wearing their seatbelts and the airbags went off, which likely prevented a much more severe outcome. Medics took Reitz and her two adult passengers to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

This crash comes at time during this busy holiday travel period where the Indiana State Police would remind all motorists to buckle up, slow down, and don’t drive distracted.
