Southern Michigan Jobless Rates Drop from February To March

LANSING – Jobless rates across Southern Michigan dropped from February to March. .
The Department of Technology, Management and Budget says St. Joseph County’s jobless rate saw a decrease from 4.2% to 4.1% over the month.
The biggest drop in the area was in Cass County, dropping from 4.5% to 4.2%. Branch County saw a drop in their unemployment rate from 3.8% to 3.6% while Hillsdale County saw a decrease from 4.4% to 4.3% over the last month.
The statewide unemployment rate went down from a February figure of 4.2% to 3.9% in March.
Wayne Rourke, the Labor Market Information Director for the Michigan Center for Data and Analytics says Michigan’s regions demonstrated positive labor market trends over the month.
