ANGOLA - The Humane Shelter of Steuben County (CHS) shared their Annual Appeal for 2023.

In their appeal, the shelter describes a story where a total of nine dogs were tragically uprooted from their family after a devastating fire.

Nala, Loki, Oakley and six pupped were placed with the shelter and rehabilitated before later all being successful adopted from the community.

The shelter credits their staff, volunteers and most of their community for the success of each dog.

As the shelter is almost entirely ran on donations, they wanted to remind the community how important volunteers, donations or goods and monetary donations are for the vitality pf CHS.

Donations to the Community Humane Shelter of Steuben (CHS) are instrumental in sustaining their mission of compassion and care for animals in the community. These contributions are vital for various purposes:

Animal Welfare:
Donations directly benefit the animals by providing food, shelter, bedding, and medical care. This ensures that each resident at CHS receives proper attention and stays healthy.

Adoption and Outreach:
CHS uses funds to organize adoption events, promote animal adoptions, and educate the community about responsible pet ownership, making sure more animals find loving homes.

Veterinary Care:
Donations help cover the costs of vaccinations, spaying and neutering, as well as treating injuries and illnesses. This ensures that every animal receives the necessary medical attention.

Facility Maintenance:
Keeping the shelter safe and comfortable for both animals and staff requires ongoing maintenance and improvements, and donations contribute to these efforts.

Staffing and Operations:
Funding is allocated to employ dedicated staff and volunteers, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the shelter.

At the Community Humane Shelter of Steuben County, our mission is to provide quality care to every animal that comes through our doors. Animal care includes food and water, any veterinary care needed and an endless supply of compassion and love. This year alone we have helped hundreds animals find forever homes, as well as provided a safe haven for all animals in our care as we worked to reunite them with their families.
