ANGOLA - An Angola man was arrested on Monday, November 12 for felony intimidation with a deadly weapon and invasion of privacy.

Gregory E. Parr, 53, who resides at a temporary residence off of N C.R. 200 W was arrested by the Steuben County Sheriff's Department for a Level 5 felony of intimidation with a deadly weapon, Level 6 felony of invasion of privacy and Class A misdemeanors for invasion of privacy and firearm possession on Monday for an alleged shooting incident that took place at his resident on Thursday, November 9.

Reports state Parr was at his residence with his girlfriend when he received a text message from his uncle stating he and his two sons were going to come to the property to retrieve a deer they had shot earlier.

Parr's uncle and cousins, who are police officers, arrived at the property at approximately 9 p.m.

Parr allegedly shot into the air after his cousins and uncle arrived and waved the gun around while shouting for them to leave the property.

He then confronted one cousin with the gun in his hand and before hearing sirens in the distance.

Parr then went into his barn and was quickly surrounded by police.

His girlfriend, who had an active Person Protective Order out against Parr for an domestic battery charge from June of 2023, spoke to authorities and said they had been arguing all afternoon.

She also stated Parr had taken methamphetamine.

Indiana State Police Lt. Devon Hostetler requested a search warrant to enter the barn, seize evidence and arrest Parr which was granted.

However, Hostetler's request for a tactical unit to assist in a forced entry was denied.

With no one immediate danger they opted to file charges and make contact later resulting in Parr being arrested two days later.

Parr remains at the Steuben County Jail and is held without bond until January 8, 2024.
