(Branch/Hillsdale/St. Joseph) - The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reports an increase in respiratory illness cases over the past two weeks, including flu and COVID-19. Health officials say statewide surveillance shows Michigan's influenza activity is currently classified as high. Despite the increase, officials note it is not too late to get vaccinated to reduce the risk of severe illness or hospitalization.

Medical Director Dr. Karen Luparello says everyone six months and older is encouraged to get a flu shot. Vaccines for flu, COVID-19, whooping cough, pneumonia, and RSV are widely available at local pharmacies, doctors' offices, and Community Health Agency locations.
