Fort Wayne Man Accused Of Selling Kosher Salt As Methamphetamine

(FORT WAYNE) - A Fort Wayne man is facing felony charges after allegedly selling kosher salt to an undercover police officer while claiming it was methamphetamine.

Blake Brehmer, 31, has been charged with dealing in a substance represented to be a controlled substance and money laundering.

According to court records, Brehmer met with an undercover officer Monday to sell what he claimed was methamphetamine. The officer exchanged prerecorded money for the substance while wearing a recording device during the transaction.

Authorities said the substance later field tested negative for methamphetamine and was identified as kosher salt.

Court records indicate Brehmer later admitted to selling the kosher salt in place of methamphetamine.

The charges carry a potential maximum sentence of five years in prison.
