(FORT WAYNE) - Ivy Tech Community College will soon offer a free robotic welding course aimed at preparing participants for careers in advanced manufacturing.
The course will be available to current students and community members at the college's Fort Wayne and Kosciusko County campuses.
The eight-week sessions will run March 16 through May 10 and June 8 through August 2. A total of eight seats are available for each session.
College officials say the program is made possible through a $60,000 EmployED initiative grant awarded by the American Association of Community Colleges and General Motors.
Officials say robotic welding is a critical skill in modern manufacturing and the training can create pathways to careers in the field.
