(FORT WAYNE) - A substitute teacher with Fort Wayne Community Schools has been arrested and charged after allegedly sending inappropriate messages and images to a student. Tyler Rush, 30, faces charges of Dissemination of Matter Harmful to Children and Official Misconduct, both Level 6 felonies.

Police say the charges stem from social media communications between Rush and a minor student at North Side High School, where he worked as a substitute teacher.

Investigators say inappropriate messages and images were sent through Instagram and Snapchat.

The messages were discovered after the student reported the behavior to school officials. Officials then contacted the Department of Child Services hotline.

Following an investigation and interviews, the Fort Wayne Police Department arrested Rush.

Rush was booked into the Allen County Jail on March 5, where he remains in custody.
