(COLDWATER) - The Branch County Panfish Club has confirmed plans for a two-day ice fishing tournament weekend in southern Michigan, with events scheduled Saturday (1/3) and Sunday (1/4).
Saturday's tournament is at the Craig Lake public access site in Coldwater. Fishing runs from 7:30 a.m. until noon. The entry fee is 50 dollars, with an optional five-dollar side pot. Club officials expect a strong turnout and ask anglers to double park when necessary.
On Sunday, January 4, the Branch County Panfish Club will join the Southern Michigan Panfish Series for a tournament at the Tip-Up Island access on Marble Lake. Sunday's event will follow Southern Michigan Panfish Series rules, with entry fees paid directly to that organization. Branch County officials say results will still count toward their club's season points for anglers who fished Saturday's Craig Lake tournament.
Club leaders say fishing both events this weekend can help anglers meet qualification requirements for end-of-season championship tournaments. Officials noted several lakes were considered for a separate Sunday event, but no additional safe options were available within the club's coverage area.
