(FORT WAYNE) - There will be no hockey tonight in Fort Wayne. ECHL players went on strike today, December 26, forcing the postponement of the Fort Wayne Komets' scheduled home game against the Indy Fuel. The players' union says contract negotiations broke down over working conditions, including travel demands, equipment standards, and time off. The union also alleges unfair labor practices and says complaints have been filed with federal regulators.

The ECHL says a work stoppage will result in postponed games and cost players pay, housing, and medical benefits. League officials say they have proposed salary cap increases, mandatory days off, and changes to travel policies, but no agreement has been reached.

With the strike underway, the Komets' home games scheduled for Saturday and Sunday are also at risk of postponement. The team has not announced when postponed games will be rescheduled.
