(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -The U.S. Senate has confirmed Adam Mildred as the new U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana.
Mildred was confirmed on December 18 by a 53-43 vote. He previously served as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Allen County and is based in Fort Wayne.
Mildred was nominated for the position earlier this year by President Donald Trump. In a statement following his nomination, Mildred said he plans to focus on enforcing federal law, protecting civil rights, and working closely with law enforcement partners to keep northern Indiana communities safe.
Mildred was sworn in shortly after the Senate vote. He replaces M. Scott Proctor, who previously held the position.
The U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana oversees federal prosecutions and represents the United States in federal court across the region.
