(INDIANAPOLIS) - More Hoosiers are choosing to handle their Bureau of Motor Vehicles business at self-service kiosks instead of visiting a branch, and the numbers show it. The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles announced it surpassed its 2025 goal for BMV Connect kiosk transactions by more than 100,000. The agency recorded over 1.55 million kiosk transactions this year, exceeding its target of 1.45 million.

BMV officials say the growth reflects increasing demand for convenient, on-the-schedule services.

"If a Hoosier wants to renew their registration or driver's license at midnight, we want them to have that option," said Courtney Holt, BMV Director of Branch Operations. "Meeting customers' needs has always been our philosophy. Our number one priority is always customer experience."

Indiana currently has 74 BMV Connect kiosk locations with 110 machines statewide. In 2025, the BMV added nine new locations, including several with multiple machines, for a total of 14 new kiosks.

Kiosk usage has grown steadily since the program launched in 2017. After reaching more than 1.26 million transactions in 2023, usage climbed again in 2024 and hit an all-time high in 2025 with 1,557,545 transactions.

BMV Connect kiosks allow customers to complete many common transactions without waiting in line at a branch. Available services include new vehicle registrations, registration renewals, driver's license and ID renewals, and duplicate title requests.

The BMV says it plans to expand kiosk availability in 2026 and is working to add more transaction types to the machines. Additional details are expected to be announced as those services become available.
