(FORT WAYNE) - Parents have filed a lawsuit against Northwest Allen County Schools, alleging their young son was sexually abused multiple times on a school bus earlier this year. Court filings say the child, a kindergarten student at Aspen Meadow Elementary, was abused by another student during four separate incidents in January. The lawsuit claims the incidents occurred on January 8, 9, 10, and 13, 2025 -- and that each was captured on bus video that remained in the school district's possession. The parents allege the district failed to protect their son by not changing seating arrangements, adding staff to the bus, or installing additional monitoring measures. The parents are suing the district for negligence, negligent infliction of emotional distress, and premises liability, and are requesting a jury trial and damages. In a statement, the school district said once it became aware of the allegation, it immediately investigated, reviewed video, and reported the matter to the Department of Child Services. District officials say there are no allegations that any incident occurred after they were notified. The case is now pending in court.
