(COLDWATER & QUINCY) - Two local police departments are welcoming new officers to their ranks this week. In Coldwater, Tre Miller was sworn in Wednesday morning at City Hall. Miller is a lifelong Branch County resident and a 2024 Coldwater High School graduate. He studied criminal justice through the Branch Area Career Center and most recently worked as a corrections officer at the Branch County Jail. Meanwhile in Quincy, Travis Hurley was officially sworn in during Tuesday night's Village Council meeting. Hurley recently graduated from the police academy and is now beginning his Field Training Officer program.
Officials say both new officers bring strong preparation and local ties as they start their careers serving the community.
