(ADRIAN) - A former Lenawee County detective tied to the Dee Warner murder investigation is due in court today after being arrested as a fugitive in Ohio. WTOL reports that Kevin Greca, a retired sheriff's office investigator, was taken into custody last week by U.S. Marshals in Lucas County. Authorities say Greca left Michigan to avoid being served with a subpoena requiring him to testify as a material witness in the upcoming murder trial of Dale Warner.

Court records show prosecutors sought a material witness detainer after repeated attempts to locate Greca failed. A judge approved the warrant, alleging Greca crossed state lines to avoid testifying. Bond was set at $50,000, and Greca is scheduled to appear in Lenawee County Circuit Court today.

Sheriff Troy Bevier confirmed Greca worked on the Dee Warner case in its early stages before Michigan State Police assumed control of the investigation. Prosecutors consider his testimony essential as jury selection for Dale Warner's trial approaches.

Dee Ann Warner disappeared in April 2021. Her remains were found in August 2024 inside an anhydrous ammonia tank on property owned by her husband. Dale Warner is charged with open murder and tampering with evidence, with trial set to begin January 27, 2026.
