(ANGOLA) - Trine University is celebrating some holiday cheer after donors helped the school smash its Giving Tuesday goal.
Alumni, employees, and friends of the university gave more than $140,000 on December 2nd -- topping Trine's target of $125,000 by nearly 20 percent. In all, Trine received 178 gifts from 157 donors, supporting student scholarships, campus renovations, and other key programs. The final total raised was $142,271.
Ellen Paxton with Trine's advancement office says the outpouring of support shows the community's commitment to keeping a high-quality education affordable for students.
Giving Tuesday has grown into a global tradition since launching in 2012 -- a chance to focus on generosity after the rush of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. And this year, Trine donors proved the spirit of giving is alive and well as the holiday season gets underway.
