RARE DECEMBER SUPERMOON SET TO DAZZLE THURSDAY NIGHT

(ANGOLA) - Skywatchers, get ready -- a rare celestial show is headed our way tonight. The December 4th supermoon will shine brighter and appear larger than any full moon we'll see for nearly two decades. Astronomers say this isn't just another full moon. It's a perigee supermoon, which happens when the moon swings closest to Earth in its orbit at the exact same time it becomes full. That makes it look bigger, hang lower on the horizon, and glow with extra intensity.

What makes this one so important is its timing. We won't see another December supermoon like this until 2042. Scientists say these winter supermoons can be especially striking because cold, dry air often creates clearer skies -- giving the moon a sharper, more dramatic appearance.

If clouds cooperate, step outside shortly after sunset. The moon will rise looking oversized and golden before brightening into a brilliant white as it climbs higher.

Experts say it's a great chance to take photos, enjoy the view, and soak in a moment of sky history -- because the next time this supermoon returns, the calendar, and your life, will look very different.
