(COLDWATER) - A 21-year-old Coldwater man is facing multiple felony charges in Branch County District Court stemming from alleged crimes involving a teenage girl.

Jacob Herwarth is charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of accosting a child for immoral purposes.

Prosecutors allege the crimes occurred in August 2024, when Herwarth was 19 years old. Court records indicate the alleged victim was a 15-year-old girl.

Investigators say the girl reported the encounter escalated during a game of truth or dare that started as kissing and then progressed to non-consensual sexual contact.

Herwarth is scheduled to appear in court June 16.

If convicted on all charges, Herwarth could face more than 30 years in prison under the maximum penalties allowed by law.
