(WATERLOO) - The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office is investigating a crash Tuesday afternoon in Waterloo involving a vehicle and a utility pole.
Deputies responded around 3:43 p.m. to the 1800 block of County Road 35 after reports of a crash involving injuries.
Investigators say 18-year-old Michelle Maxwell of Ashley was driving a 2006 Ford Mustang eastbound when the vehicle traveled off the south side of the road after a utility pole. The vehicle continued through a ditch before coming to a stop in front of another utility pole.
Maxwell complained of head, back and hip pain along with a lip abrasion. Deputies say she was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
The sheriff's office says investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash and an OWI investigation remains ongoing.
