(ANGOLA) - The Metropolitan School District of Steuben County is offering two summer learning programs at Carlin Park Elementary, including required IREAD remediation for some students and an open literacy program for all current K-5 students.

The first track is IREAD remediation, aimed at second-grade students identified as at risk and students in grades 3 through 5 who have not yet passed IREAD.

That mandatory support program runs May 26 through June 4.

The district is also partnering with the Steuben County Literacy Coalition for "Summer Up!", an optional literacy enrichment program open to all current K-5 students.

That program runs June 1 through June 25, Monday through Thursday.

School leaders say students who qualify for IREAD support are also welcome to transition into the Summer Up program once remediation testing is complete, allowing some students to participate in both tracks.

All summer learning programs will include free busing, breakfast and lunch.

Parents who want to sign up should contact MSD Steuben County or Carlin Park Elementary as soon as possible, since registration is now open for both summer programs. (Please see the QR codes and links listed in the graphic above for registration.)
