(CORUNNA) - A Waterloo man was killed early Friday in a head-on crash that sparked a vehicle fire on U.S. 6 east of Corunna.
Tristen Till, 28, of Waterloo was killed when his car crossed the center line and slammed head-on into a pickup truck before bursting into flames.
The crash happened shortly before 5 a.m. just west of County Road 19. Till's car came to rest on the berm and caught fire. Emergency crews extinguished the blaze and removed him from the vehicle, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pickup rolled over and ended up upright in a ditch. Its driver reported soreness but declined medical treatment.
U.S. 6 remained closed for several hours while crews cleared the wreckage and investigators examined the scene.
