(INDIANAPOLIS) - A new nationwide study finds Indiana is among the leading states preparing students for life after graduation through career-focused high school reforms.

The report by the nonprofit XQ Institute highlights Indiana for creating pathways that connect students directly to college, careers or military service. State officials say updated diploma requirements allow students to earn "readiness seals" tied to real-world skills such as job training and industry credentials.

Education leaders credit collaboration among schools, colleges and businesses for expanding opportunities and aligning classroom learning with workforce needs.

Researchers say the findings position Indiana as a national model as states work to modernize traditional high school education.
