(ANGOLA) - Trine University says it is prepared to assist students from Lourdes University following the school's announcement that it will close at the end of the 2025-26 academic year.

University officials said they aim to help affected students complete their degrees by providing transfer opportunities, academic options and financial assistance.

First-year students who had enrolled at Lourdes or those transferring to Trine for the fall 2026 semester will receive a $1,500 scholarship, renewable annually. Out-of-state students also will qualify for Trine's $3,000 Out-of-State Grant. Transfer students may additionally receive merit-based scholarships ranging from $14,000 to $24,000 per year based on grade point average.

Trine officials said many of the university's academic programs align with those offered at Lourdes, including degrees in arts and sciences, business, education, engineering and health sciences. The university reports a career placement rate of more than 99 percent for graduates.

Students seeking to continue athletic participation also would have options at Trine, which fields 36 intercollegiate teams, including 27 at the NCAA Division III level.

Trine noted it has invested more than $100 million in campus improvements over the past decade and plans to open new facilities, including an athletic dome and additions to Zollner Athletic Stadium this spring, as well as a new student design center later in the year.

Applications for Lourdes students transferring to Trine are free of charge, and additional information about the transfer process is available through the university's admissions office.
