(FORT LEONARD WOOD, MO) -- A soldier stationed at Fort Leonard Wood has been convicted of murdering an Indiana Army sergeant following a military court-martial.

Twenty-two-year-old Wooster Rancy was found guilty of murder and two counts of obstruction of justice under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The charges stem from the death of Sergeant Sarah Roque, who was from Ligonier.

Investigators said Roque's body was found inside a dumpster on the Fort Leonard Wood base in October 2024. The discovery prompted a base-wide investigation that later led to Rancy's arrest. Military prosecutors said Rancy attempted to interfere with the investigation following Roque's death.

Roque was a graduate of West Noble High School and served in the U.S. Army as a mine dog handler. Records show she earned multiple service honors during her military career.

Sentencing will be determined through military justice procedures at a later date.
