(BLACKMAN TOWNSHIP, MI) - A Jonesville woman is among two people who died from a suspected drug overdose at a hotel in Blackman Township, prompting serious felony charges against a Jackson woman accused of supplying the drugs. WLIX-TV reports that 35-year-old Ashley Connin of Jonesville and 36-year-old JaJuan Worthy of Jackson were found dead Sunday inside a room at the Travelodge on Rosehill Avenue. A third woman was found alive and transported to a hospital for overdose-related treatment.

According to the Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety, officers responded to the hotel after receiving reports of an overdose. Investigators later determined that all three victims had obtained drugs from the same source, a 41-year-old Jackson woman identified as Angela Marie Chapman. Chapman was arrested the same evening and arraigned Tuesday, Jan. 20, on two counts of delivery of a controlled substance causing death, along with additional related charges.

Police said both Connin and Worthy died from overdoses. The delivery charges Chapman faces are felonies that carry a maximum penalty of life in prison. Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.

In a statement, police extended condolences to the families of the victims, including Connin, whose death has sent shockwaves through the Jonesville community.
