Trine Men's Soccer Falls to KZOO in MIAA Tournament
Saturday, November 2, 2019

The Trine University men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision against Kalamazoo (Mich.) College in a first-round game of the 2019 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament in Kalamazoo, Mich.

The game remained scoreless for the majority of the first half until late in the period when Kalamazoo (11-3-2) broke the stalemate with an unassisted goal at the 30:42 mark to take a 1-0 lead. The goal by the Hornets was the only point scored by either team in the first 45 minutes as KZOO maintained its one-goal advantage at the intermission.

A little over 10 minutes into the second period, KZOO struck again for another score during the 56th minute to increase the margin to 2-0. But Trine (6-10) would not go away and cut the deficit in half shortly after the Hornets' second goal when sophomore Brian Morris (Metamora, Mich./Lapeer) found the back of the net at the 59:07 minute mark to make it a 2-1 game.

The Thunder continued to apply pressure, looking for the potential game-tying score, until the 79:42 mark when the Hornets sealed the victory with their third and final goal of the game and went on to claim the 3-1 victory to advance to the MIAA Tournament Semifinals.

Sophomore Taylor Medina (Mill Creek, Ind./Rochester) played all 90 minutes in net for Trine and had six saves in nine shots faced.
