Sheriff’s Detective Sergeant Graduates from F.B.I. National Academy

Two hundred and thirty-two law enforcement officers graduated Friday (June 8th) from the FBI National Academy Program at Quantico, Virginia. The 272nd Session of the National Academy consisted of men and women from 48 states. Included in the class are members of law enforcement agencies from the District of Columbia, 25 international countries, five military organizations, and seven federal civilian organizations.

Among those graduates was Detective Sergeant Christopher R. Emerick has been with the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.

Detective Sergeant Emerick has been with the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office since 2000. Sgt. Emerick is a graduate of Eastside High School in Butler, Indiana. He served in the United States Marine Corp, stationed in Japan, Virginia and Georgia before being honorably discharged as a combat engineer. He is a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and prior to becoming a Sheriff Deputy in Steuben County he served as a deputy Marshal in the town of Ashley. Detective Emerick has served in the Sheriff’s office as a patrol deputy, SRT Team leader and chief firearms instructor and became a Detective Sergeant in 2011. He is currently assigned to the investigations division of the Sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Tim Troyer states, “The FBI National Academy brings the highest level of professionalism, training and resources to the Sheriff’s office and the citizens of Steuben County.”

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office now has three F.B.I. National Academy graduates on staff. Detective First Sergeant Michael Meeks is a graduate of the 254th session in 2013, and Sheriff Tim Troyer is a graduate of the 198th session in 1999.
