GARRETT, IN - A recently retired athletic director was honored for his long time service at Saturday's NECC Basketball Tournament Finals.

During halftime of NECC Boys Basketball Championship game, Roger Probst, recently retired Fremont Athletic Director, was recognized for his service to the NECC.

Probst retired at the end of the 2021-2022 school year from Fremont where he served 42 years. He started at Fremont in 1980 where he served as a teacher, coach, and his last 15 year as the athletic director.

Probst was not only well loved by his own Fremont community, but a trusted, fair, and respectable face throughout the Northeast Corner Conference and the Tri-state Region. He even gave his replacement, Cal Stone, a glowing recommendation last spring saying Stone will take Fremont "to an even higher point than where we’re at right now."

It is no surprise colleagues and fans in the NECC would want to give Probst at least one last set of kudos.

Humble, kind, enthusiastic, level-headed, motivated and certainly passionate for student success are things to describe Roger Probst.
