Heat Warning For The Tri-State Region Tuesday And Wednesday
By: Sheila McCrea - Tuesday, June 14, 2022

The temperature will be very hot Tuesday and Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning in effect through Wednesday night. The Warning is in effect for St. Joseph, Branch, Cass and Hillsdale Counties in Michigan; along with LaGrange, Elkhart, Noble, Steuben and DeKalb Counties in Indiana.

Oppressively hot and humid conditions are ahead, with highs in the mid to upper 90s. Overnight lows will not offer much relief, staying in the mid to upper 70s. Heat indices will peak near 110 degrees on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

The extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, specifically for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

The National Weather Service is reminding the public to monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this situation. Drink plenty of fluids, especially water and fruit juices; stay in an air conditioned room; limit your outdoor activities and if you are outdoors for work or play, stay out of the sun as much as possible and take frequent breaks.

Also remember to check on your relatives and neighbors.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
