WOLCOTTVILLE, IN - A LaGrange County man has been arrested on numerous charges after a woman said she was held captive and assaulted for weeks.
The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department says detectives were dispatched to an area hospital for a 35-year-old woman who had severe injuries in multiple stages of healing. She told detectives she was held captive for two weeks before she was able to escape a Wolcottville home.
The woman told authorities a man struck her with his fist, hit her with a hammer, stabbed her with a knife, and bit her all over her body, multiple times.
Following a police investigation, a search warrant was issued. As a result, authorities arrested 41-year-old Foua Joseph Tofiga Jr. on charges of rape, criminal confinement, aggravated battery, strangulation, and intimidation.
