Hagerty Stepping Down As Angola Fire Chief To Regular Duty
By: Sheila McCrea - Friday, March 25, 2022

ANGOLA - After being named the 17th Fire Chief in history of the Angola Fired Department in 2020, T.R. Hagerty is returning to being a regular fire fighter for the department.

City officials will now begin the search for a new fire chief since Hagerty has left the position to rejoinin the ranks of firefighters.

Hagerty may be returning to regular duties, but during his time with the department he has certainly not been just a regular employee. Hagerty has been involved with fire service since 1990 in volunteer roles. He joined the Angola Fire Department as a full-time firefighter in July 2004.

Prior to taking over as chief, he was the public information officer for the department.

The position of fire chief is an appointment from the mayor and does not need approval from the Common Council or the Board of Works and Public Safety.

A search for a new fire chief outside of the ranks of the current force has reportedly started.
