There is a slight risk for scattered strong to severe thunderstorms later today across the region.

The most likely severe weather threats are damaging wind gusts and large hail this afternoon into the evening hours.

Locally heavy rainfall atop already saturated soils will lead to some flooding of low-lying areas, as well. Afternoon high temperatures will reach into the 60s.

A return to cooler weather is then in store starting Thursday.

By this weekend, highs will only reach into the upper 30s to lower 40s.

There is a chance of light rain or light snow later this week, but dry weather will return for the start of next week.
