ORLAND, IN - One of Orland‘s oldest factories has been purchased by a new firm.

Madsen Wire has been acquired by Marlin Steel Wire based in Baltimore. According to a news release, Marlin Steel entered into negotiations with Madsen Wire in late summer and closed on the transaction on December 15th.

Madsen Wire Products was founded in 1938 and has been based in Orland since the mid-1980’s. Madsen Wire is responsible for making security partitions for fleet vehicles in the United States. They are also one of the largest manufacturers of wire mesh, wire grid and wire mats, as well as refrigerator shelves and wire forms.

Officials with Marlin say they are looking to grow its business with the addition of the Orland facility. Plans include increasing the workforce by adding 20% more employees to the Madsen team in Orland.
