Court Ruling in the Hoosier State Won’t End Extended Unemployment

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Indiana Court of Appeals reversed a July ruling and will allow the state to end the extra $300 in weekly federal unemployment payments.
Despite the latest ruling, those payments will continue for the time being, because the state must give a 30-day notice that they will stop. That notice extends past the scheduled September 6 end of the federal pandemic unemployment programs.
Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb decided to withdraw Indiana from the programs in mid-June, but a Marion County judge ruled the Indiana law didn't allow him to do so. The Indiana Court of Appeals overturned that judge's decision on Tuesday.
