Sierah’s Law Passes Ohio House Committee
Wednesday Dec 05, 2018 5:30am
Columbus, OH

An Ohio Statehouse Committee passed Sierah’s Law this week in an unanimous 12-0 committee vote.

The law is named after Sierah Joughin who was murdered in summer 2016 in Fulton County.

The law, which also passed the state senate, would create a violent offender registry in Ohio.

The bill outlines a plan that those convicted of third-degree felonies and higher would need to register with the state in order to be traceable. Supporters of the bill say that a registry could have saved Sierah’s life.

It will now head to Governor Kasich's desk to be signed.
