Indiana Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Auburn Mayor Norman Yoder, and other city of Auburn officials gathered Thursday afternoon for the official ribbon cutting that marked the completion of Auburn's 6th and Main Street downtown project.
The project started in 2010 and was finally complete this summer. The final cost was $1.3 million, with $500,000 each from the City of Auburn and Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
The remaining funds for the project came from local donations from the community.
The facelift of the downtown streets included wider sidewalks, historic replica lighting, buried utility lines dumpster enclosures, new pavement, and new landscaping. The project is part of ongoing downtown enhancements designed to attract business and the public to the downtown area.
