Saturday Barn Fire Totals Half a Million in Losses

Roughly eight fire departments battled a blaze Saturday night where a large barn caught on fire in Dekalb County.
The Ashley-Hudson Fire Department was dispatched to 351 County Road 35 at about midnight to a barn located in the Dekalb County portion of Ashley.
Crews from multiple departments assisted and remained on scene for several hours.
It took 23 minutes to bring the blaze under control. One fire fighter was treated for a minor injury at the scene.
Adam Smith is the owner of the barn.
Reports indicate that the barn and everything inside are a total loss estimated at half a million dollars.
The fire is under investigation.
Assisting at the scene was Corunna Fire, Steuben Township Fire, Hamilton Fire, Waterloo Fire, Salem Township Fire, Angola Fire, Fremont Fire, Ashley Marshal’s Office, Dekalb County Sheriff Office, & the Dekalb County EMS.
