LAGRANGE – Two men from New York were arrested Tuesday morning by the Indiana State Police after they finished with a trial at the LaGrange County Courthouse.

According to Trooper Zarek Finley, he along with Trooper Matthew Henson and LaGrange County Deputy Prosecutor Travis Glick were inside the Superior Courtroom awaiting a trial, when the defendant and his friend walked in. Finley alleges that there was on odor of raw marijuana which was evident after the two walked in.

Following the trial, Finley and LaGrange Police Officer Todd Johnson saw 18 year old Rayan Alrayashi and 19 year old Anad Ibrahim Al-Yafay get into a 2018 Ford Mustang and drive away. Finley and Johnson knew that neither of the men possessed a valid driver's license. Finley stopped the Mustang on eastbound Factory Street near Detroit Street.

A search of the vehicle allegedly turned up a substance believed to be marijuana, another plant like substance believed to be a controlled substance known as "khat" and items of drug paraphernalia. Both Alrayashi and Al-Yafay were taken into custody and incarcerated in the LaGrange County Jail on several drug related charges.
