The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that the pavement replacement project on U.S. 20, between Wayne Street and Clyde Avenue, is scheduled to begin construction on or after Wednesday, July 11, weather permitting.
Work on the project includes the total removal of pavement from the lanes and shoulders, followed by the placement of new pavement from just east of Monument Circle to just east of Clyde Avenue.
On or after Wednesday, July 11, contractors will close U.S. 20 to through-traffic to begin the pavement replacement work. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained throughout the work.
The official state detour for the closure will be I-69 to U.S. 6 to Ohio S.R. 49. The intersection of U.S. 20 and Williams Street will remain open throughout the work, which will allow residents and emergency vehicles access to Cameron Memorial Hospital. Additionally, there will be access to the hospital from South Washington, John and East Gale streets.
Work on the U.S. 20 pavement replacement is expected to continue through November, weather permitting.
