Hotter and much more humid conditions are expected over the next several days as high pressure takes control of the region.
The National Weather Service says that by Friday and Saturday highs will reach the lower to middle 90s. This combined with the high humidity will send heat indices to around 100 Friday and 105 to 110 Saturday.
While the young, elderly and ill as well as pets are most susceptible to the heat and humidity, even those that are healthy can be quickly overcome. Drink plenty of fluids, avoid alcohol which gives a false sense of cooling and stay in a cool air during the afternoon hours.
