Visitors will be temporarily limited at Cameron Memorial Hospital.

In a news release sent out on Wednesday, Cameron officials said that its visitation policy will change temporarily to decrease the risk of spreading influenza. The restrictions are being implemented to protect Cameron’s patients, visitors and staff due to an increase of those who have flu in the community.

Cameron's quality and risk management officials felt that the limitations were justified by the spike in flu cases locally, so measures were taken to prevent its further spread.

In addition, state and federal health officials have reported widespread flu.

Cameron’s temporary visitation policy will not allow children or people under 18 to visit patients. Exceptions will be made in extreme situations.
Visitation will be limited to two adults, 18 years or older, per patient.

Guests are also asked not to visit patients if feeling ill, have flu symptoms, or have recently been exposed to anyone with flu symptoms.

The new policy took effect Wednesday. For questions regarding the new visitation policy, call 260.665.2141.
