Morgan Olson plans be to operational at the former Michiana Event Center building next to the Toll Road by the end of the year.

The company has been renovating the interior and installing new equipment for several weeks now as part of a $2-million dollar investment and expansion.

The facility on State Road 9 is within two miles of Morgan Olson’s Sturgis facilities on South Centreville and South Nottawa Roads.

President and Chief Operating Officer Mike Ownbey called the availability of the facility a perfect option for the company.

The company makes walk-in vans – including the iconic “Route Star” used by the nation’s largest parcel package delivery companies.

Demand for the vans continues to grow as internet retailing continues to grow and increases the demand for final mile delivery solutions.

Instead of tax abatement, Ryne Krock of the LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation says they’ve offered a $40-thousand dollar grant to help build a secondary access road on the property’s east side to County Road 50 East. That road becomes South Nottawa Road in Michigan and leads to to Morgan Olson plant about 1.8 miles to the north.
