Woman Arrested on Multiple Drug Charges

Butler, IN

Butler Police Chief James Nichols advised that on Sunday October 1st at approximately 12:04 A.M. Officer Jacob Smith was on duty for the City of Butler. While on patrol Officer Smith observed a White 2014 Toyota Corolla traveling on West Main Street which did not have on any taillights or headlights. Officer Smith advised that he then made a traffic stop on the vehicle.

While talking to the driver who was identified as a Tiffany L. Fugate Officer Smith developed reasonable suspicion for a search of the vehicle by a K-9 Unit. Officer Smith contacted Officer Nick Grate of the Dekalb County Police Department and requested that he make the scene with his K-9. Upon completing a free air sniff of the vehicle the K-9 alerted to the possible presence of drugs.

Officer Smith advised that he spoke with Tiffany and advised her that he now had probable cause to search the vehicle. He asked her if their was anything illegal in the vehicle. After some further discussion, she advised Officer Smith that their may be some items located in a brown bag.

Sergeant Grate of the Dekalb County Police Department assisted in the vehicle search and he advised Officer Smith that he located a gallon size plastic bag that was 2/3 of the way full, of what he believed to be marijuana. He further located various items of paraphernalia.

Officer Smith asked Tiffany if she had any other items of contraband on her and she advised him that she did. She was transported to the Dekalb County Jail and was taken to a room with a female jailer and Tiffany turned over to the jailer another bag of marijuana and a small bag of white crystals which she informed Officer Smith was Crystal Methamphetamine.

During the search of the vehicle officers also located a scale, numerous small baggies, $2,140 in cash and further items of paraphernalia.

Charges at this time on Tiffany L. Fugate include the following:

1. Dealing in Methamphetamine, Level 3 felony
2. Possession of Methamphetamine Level 5 Felony
3. Dealing in Marijuana Level 6 Felony
4.Possession of Marijuana Class B Misdemeanor
5. Possession of Paraphernalia Class C Misdemeanor.

Officers were assisted by the Dekalb County Police Department.

Further charges are being reviewed.
