Metaldyne Closing Fremont Factory by the End of 2020

FREMONT. IN — A Fremont factory is closing down operations in the near future.

Metaldyne, located on Fremont's south end of town, has filed a WARN notice with the state of Indiana they are making plans to permanently close at the end of 2020. The Fremont plant will release roughly 63 employees in the first round of layoffs.

The first sequence of layoffs will take affect right before Christmas on December 23rd and will include machine operators and general labor positions, as well as forklift operator, maintenance staff and tool room employees.

The remaining employees will be gone by December 31st.
