Steuben County Continues Growth with Groundbreaking of New EDC Headquarters
Friday, July 24, 2020

The Steuben County Economic Development Corporation broke ground on Thursday on their new facility located adjacent to the building they are currently operating out of on South Wayne Street in Angola.

The much-anticipated groundbreaking is a sign of the continued rise of Steuben County and Northeast Indiana as a whole. Over the last decade, Steuben County’s labor force has grown on average by 2-3% each year totaling more than 17,500 in early 2020. This is the highest labor force recorded in the history of Steuben County. Over that same time, the average annual wage has grown from $28,534 to $37,243. This has led to one of the fastest growing PCPI within the region.

Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch was in attendance on Thursday with other local and regional figures that included State Representative Denny Zent, State Senator Sue Glick, as well as representatives from Senator Mike Braun’s office.

The contractor for the project is JICI Construction which is locally based in Angola with a regional reach. JICI has been at the construction/development helm of the previously mentioned growth within the county and as a leader within northeast Indiana they are excited to be a part of yet another sign of growth for the county and region.
