Steuben County Health Department’s Friday Report on COVID-19
By: Sheila McCrea - Friday, March 27, 2020

STEUBEN COUNTY, IN - The Steuben County Health Department was notified Friday morning that a COVID-19 positive patient who was currently in an Allen County hospital is an employee of Fremont Community Schools.

County officials say they understand how startling this situation is for all of the faculty and families in the Fremont community, which is why they say they have been in communication with the Superintendent of Fremont Community Schools and the Indiana State Department of Health epidemiologist.

Although the patient is employed in Steuben County, the individual is NOT a resident of Steuben County. The county reminds the community that only individuals that reside in Steuben County would be reported to the department directly.

The Steuben County Health Department is strongly urging the community to follow measures like staying at home. In addition, residents should monitor for fever, cough or shortness of breath. Maintaining social distancing of 6-feet and frequent hand-washing are also suggested.

The Steuben County Health Department is available to answer questions about coronavirus (or COVID-19) during normal business hours (260) 668-1000 Ex. 1500. For coronavirus or COVID-19 information and screening, please call the Cameron COVID-19 Resource Screening line (24/7) at (260) 667-5555.
