The on-going issues surrounding Williams County Sheriff Steve Towns continued as another written protest has been filed with the county elections board alleging that Towns is ineligible to run for the seat once again.

Of the four seeking the seat, the three other candidates all allege Towns is ineligible for the ballot after his conviction back in November in Bryan Municipal Court on a first-degree misdemeanor charge of disseminating confidential information in a child abuse case in which Towns is appealing.

The elections board will have a hearing on Towns’ candidacy set for Monday, January 13th in a meeting that is open to the public.
